It's been 15 years since Dhanush starrer Pudhupettai released in 2006. The film starring the actor won many hearts when it hit theatres on 26 May 2006. On its 15th anniversary, today, the actor's fans have been trending the hashtag, #15YearsofPudhupettai and #15YearsOfEpicPudhupettai on Twitter thus recalling their memorable moments from the film.
Pudhupettai a political gangster drama went on to become one of the massive hits of the year, director Selvaraghavan on this special occasion, took to his Twitter to share a special poster on 15 years of Pudhupettai.

It has been over a decade since Pudhupettai released and fans have been asking Dhanush and Selvaraghavan to come up with a sequel to the gangster film and today through the Tweet the director confirmed the sequel of the film, he wrote, 'And the journey shall continue @dhanushkraja @thisisysr @Arvindkrsna @kabilanchelliah”. This bit of news has got the actor fans super excited. While the fans speculated that Naane Varuven could be Pudhupettai 2, however, the director clarified in an interview, “It (Naane Varuven) is not Pudhupettai 2. In between this and Ayirathil Oruvan 2, Pudhupettai sequel will be released and Kokki Kumar will come back.”

Along with Dhanush, the film also featured and Sonia Agarwal and Sneha. Pudhupettai which had released 15 years back took the best ever opening for a Selvaraghan film, netting nearly ₹27.55 lakh. Apart from Pudhupettai 2, Selvaraghavan has Aayirathil Oruvan 2 and Naane Varugiren with Dhanush
