A survey was organized by the Tamil Government to study the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the State’s economy during March-May has found that in 53% of the households at least one member had lost his/her job during the period. Also, found that the job losses due to pandemic were more or less evenly distributed between rural and urban households.
Amidst this loss due to COVID-19, the popular actor R Madhavan has posted a heart-winning post on his Twitter handle where he can be seen praising the popular Kollywood actor Suriya Kumar’s initiative of donating 1.25 Lakh to his Fan Club Members. “Soorarai Pottru” actor Suriya Sivakumar has donated INR 5000 each to 250 Fan Club Members who lost their jobs due to uncertainties prevailing because of COVID-19. Meanwhile, on the professional front, his blockbuster movie “Soorarai Pottru” joins the Oscar race. The movie was directed by Sudha Kongara and was released on the OTT Platform, Amazon prime. He is busy shooting Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan” slated to be released in 2022.
