Mahesh was born on August 9, 1975, in Chennai to superstar Krishna and Indira Devi. On February 10, 2005, he married Femina Miss India Namrata Shirodkar. They have two children. The son's name is Gautam and the daughter's name is Sithara. 

When it comes to Mahesh's acting career, he started with a small role in the shadow film starring his brother Ramesh Babu. In 1983, he acted as the younger brother of his father Krishna in the movie Poratam at the request of renowned director Kodi Ramakrishna. After that, he acted as a child actor in films like 'Sankharavam' , 'Bazaar Rowdy', 'Gudachari 117', 'Koduku Diddina Kapuram' ,'Balachandrudu' , 'Anna Thammudu' etc. He made his entry as a hero with the movie 'Raja Kumarudu' (1999) directed by Raghavendra Rao. He rose to become a Tollywood superstar, playing distinctive roles regardless of success. Nandi won the Best Actor award for the first time for his 2003 film 'Nijam'. He won the Nandi Awards for Best Actor in 2005, Dookudu in 2011, and Srimanthudu in 2015. Currently, Mahesh Babu is making a movie titled "Sarkaru Vaari Paata" under the direction of Parashuram. After the shooting of this movie, he is going to do a movie with Trivikram Srinivas.
