Tollywood producer KP Chowdary, who is widely known for producing Rajinikanth's Kabali, has landed in big trouble. As per the latest media reports, he has been arrested by Cyberabad Police in Hyderabad for possession of drugs. The producer was nabbed for peddling drugs worth Rs78.5 lakh. Police reportedly have recovered over 90 sachets containing 82.75 grams of cocaine from KP Chowdary. He has been accused of consuming drugs at a club in Goa.
As reported by India Today, Police official said “He returned to Hyderabad in April 2023. While returning, he procured 100 sachets of cocaine from a Nigerian national in Goa, Petit Ebuzer, who was absconding in an NDPS case. He used 10 sachets and kept the rest to sell to his friends.” He added, “Based on a tip-off, police from Madhapur apprehended him on Kismathpur Road under the limits of Rajendranagar Police Station while he was trying to sell cocaine. They seized 90 sachets of drugs, Rs 2,05,000 cash, four mobile phones, and a four-wheeler from his possession.”
A case has been registered against KP Chowdary under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. He will now be facing further interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate and other agencies.
To note, KP Chowdary had earlier made headlines after it was reported he was a prime suspect in the murder of NRI Chigurupati Jayram. Talking about his work front, he began his career in 2016 by bankrolling the Telugu version of Rajinikanth's superhit film Kabali. He also worked as a distributor for films Sardar Gabbar Singh, Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, and a Tamil film titled Kanitan. However, these films did not earn him much profit.
