Shaakunthalam, the movie directed by Gunasekhar, has finally geared up its production and went on floors with the entire crew and cast. The grandeur set of the movie which was part of a pre-production unit, involved a lot of time and now the shooting has started in a full-flagged manner. The main lead of this mythological drama is Samantha Akkineni. Also, Dev Mohan will be seen portraying a pivotal role.

Taking to the social media handles, Dev Mohan said, "Shaakuntalam, Rolling (sic)," he said. Samantha, too, is expected to join the shoot soon. Earlier, during the launch of the film, the Oh Baby! actress said, "In my decade-old career, I have done many different roles. From commercial films to thrillers, I have explored all multiple genres, but I've always wanted to play the role of a princess. It feels like I've been waiting for a script like Shaakuntalam all my life, and I'm super excited to get onto the sets and start shooting for it."
For the unversed, the movie ‘Shaakuntalam’ is the adaptation of the play ‘Abnignana Shaakunthalam’, which was written by Kalidas. The story is present in the Aadiparva in Mahabharata. Setting in the backdrop of the Himalayas, Shaakuntalam will be a tale of one of the most classic love stories of all kind.
