Bharti Singh Reflects Back On Performing At A Comedy Show While Her Mother Was In The ICU: ‘Maine Socha Yeh Kaisi Life Hai’
Bharti Singh recalls she had a comedy show performance on the day her mother was in the ICU
Bharti Singh, who started her career as a contestant with ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ in 2008, is now regarded as one of the most popular and loved stand-up comedians that we have in the industry. In her decade-long impressive career, the comedy queen has learned that as an artist no matter what happens, the show must go on. In a recent interview, Bharti recalled the time when she had to perform on a comedy show while her mother was in the ICU due to a stomach ulcer.
While speaking to RJ Siddharth Kannan, the comedy queen opened up about this difficult time and revealed that she got sponsored hotel stay during her first show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. She was accompanied by her mother on the show at that time. She and her mother had this habit of eating only home-cooked meals but her mother got a stomach ulcer after she consumed hotel food for several days. She was admitted to the ICU and on the same day, she had a performance in the semifinals of the show. “When I was at the backstage, I was thinking about my mother, who was in the ICU and I kept on thinking that I am not even sure if I will win the show and I am not getting any money from here because I am a contestant and still I have to stay here and leave my mother in this condition. I felt what kind of a life is this, at that point, I realised that if you have to become an artist you have to keep these personal things aside, you have to work for the audience, you have to make them laugh. Aap stage pe nahi keh sakte ki aaj thoda kam hasaungi meri mummy hospital mein hain please taaliyan bajaiyega,” Bharti Singh was quoted saying.
Meanwhile, on the personal front, Bharti Singh is all set to embrace motherhood bliss as she is pregnant with her first child. Her delivery is reportedly due in the first week of April.
