The singing reality TV show Indian Idol 12 came under the scanner recently after the special Kishore Kumar episode. Singer Amit Kumar criticised the show after the show received flak on social media. Since the special episode, the show has been subjected to severe criticism. The episode in question saw the contestants, including the judges pay a tribute to the late singer by performing on his songs. In an interview now, Indian Idol 12 judge Manoj Muntashir opened up on the ongoing controversy surrounding the show.
Speaking with ETimes, Manoj Muntashir expressed his thoughts on Amit Kumar criticising the show after Kishore Kumar special episode. The singer said he wouldn’t have done what Kumar did after the Kishore Kumar special. The judge said, “If Amit Kumar came out and lashed out at the show, he shouldn’t have agreed to be a part of it in the first place.” He added, “He (Amit Kumar) took money for being a part of the show and then criticised it. I wouldn’t have done what Amit Kumar did.”
Muntashir continued, “If I was in his place and not comfortable with the proceedings, I would have told the makers that I don’t want to be a part of the show." The Indian Idol 12 judge also opened up about contestants Shanmukha Priya and Mohammad Danish. He expressed that he likes Shanmukha’s performance and heaped praise of Danish too.
Meanwhile, Indian Idol 12 is now being judged by Anu Malik and Manoj Muntashir. Singer Sunidhi Chauhan and Indian Idol 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant also shared their thoughts on the ongoing controversy and slammed the show for its recent content. The show currently has contestants- Shanmukha Priya, Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Anjali Gaikwad, Sayli Kishore Kambli, Md Danish, Nihal Tauro, Sawai Bhatt and Ashish Kulkarni fighting for the winning trophy.
