This upcoming weekend, the audience and viewers of the singing reality TV show, Indian Idol 12 will be in for a surprise. Ace lyricist Javed Akhtar will be seen making an appearance on the show. In the past few days, the makers have dropped promo videos, giving fans hints of what’s about to happen on the weekend episode. However, fans will be in for a surprise this week because Javed Akhtar and music composer Anu Malik will create a song, live, on the stage of Indian Idol 12. The lyricist will also be composing a new song for contestant Arunita Kanjilal.
During the upcoming episode of Indian Idol 12, Javed Akhtar will suggest composing a new song for Arunita Kanjilal. After Akhtar’s suggestion, Anu Malik will jump to the opportunity for collaboration. This happens after Arunita performs on the track ‘Tere Liye’ from the Shah Rukh Khan-Preity Zinta film Veer Zaara. After Kanjilal’s performance, the judges — Himesh Reshammiya, Sonu Kakkar and Anu Malik heap praises on her. At this moment, the contestant will inform the judges that she is ready to do playback singing. On hearing this, Javed Akhtar decides to pen a brand new song for Arunita, to test her skills. The promo video shared on Instagram shows host Aditya Narayan telling Arunita how this will be her biggest challenge.

Meanwhile, despite being nervous, Arunita performs on the song. She manages to impress the judges after crooning to Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar’s composition. Talking about the opportunity, as per reports in a section of the media, Arunita said in a statement, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that anyone could ever receive.” She said she is very thankful to Indian Idol for presenting a platform to showcase her talent. Earlier, Akhtar compliments Kanjilal’s singing and said she reminded him of Lata Mangeshkar.
