Indian Idol 12 was graced by Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal and Roopkumar Rathod, as contestants paid tribute to Shravan Rathod’s song. The episode saw lovebirds Pawandeep Rajan and Arunita Kanjilal crooning to Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin and Nazar Ke Saamne Jigaar Ke Paas. Their performance left the guests floored. Besides this the episode also saw solo and duet performances with Ashish Kulkarni - Nihal Tauro and Sayi Kamble - Arunita Kanjilal crooning some romantic numbers from the 90s.

Ashish Kulkarni and Nihal Tauro sang Main Duniya Bhoola Dunga Teri Chahat Main and Ab Tere Bin Jee Lenge Hum from the superhit, Aashiqui, this left Kumar Sanu praising them for getting the emotional touch to the song. Anuradha Paudwal adds that everyone will miss the composer Shravan Rathod. Sayi Kamble and Arunita Kanjilal were heard singing Bahut Pyaar Karte Hain Tumko Sanam, Jeeye Toh Jeeye Kaise and Mainu Ishq Da Lagya Rog. This got Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal to sing Tu Pyaar Hai Kisi Aur Ka in their magical voices.

Sayi Kamble and Mohammad Danish performed some magical numbers from Aashiqui, such as Saanson Ki Zaroorat Hai Jaise and Tumhein Apna Banane Ki Kasam. Danish Mohammad also recreated guest Roopkumar Rathod's hit number, Maula.

The show has been in controversy after Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar’s statement. After he graced the show as the makers offered a tribute to his late father with contestants crooning to his songs, he revealed of the show makers asking him to only praise the contestants.
