Shaandaar Shukravaar special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 marked a reunion for the team of the iconic movie, Sholay. The episode was graced by veteran actress Hema Malini, who played Basanti and director of the movie Ramesh Sippy, host Big B played Jay in the movie. This episode turned out to be a special one as Hema Malini received her birthday gift in advance. Actress, who turned a year older today, met her body double, Resham Pathan on the show.
Resham Pathan sweetly shocked the actress by saying, "Aree O Basanti, Happy Birthday! Pehchana mujhe?" She was the first stunt woman in the film industry and has been popular as the ‘Sholay Girl’. Resham had performed Dream Girl's stunts in the iconic movie, Sholay. The episode saw the trio, making a video call to senior actor Dharmendra, who played Veeru on the show. The trio along with the director relieved some of their old memories and spilled some well-kept secrets too on the show.
Dharmendra also wished Rekha and Ramesh Sippy as they sat on the hot seat on the popular TV quiz show. During the episode, Ramesh Sippy shelled out the reason why he chose Amitabh Bachchan to play Jay in his movie. His revelation left the megastar overwhelmed. Ramesh Sippy said, “Anand mein aapne bohot badhiya kaam kiya. Bombay To Goa mein aapne light role kiya (You did amazing work in Anand. In Bombay to Goa, you did a lighter role). So, this seems to be an actor who could do anything.”
The amount won by them will be donated to the actress’ foundation that works towards the betterment of educational and medical aid for children in Mathura.
