Popular television actress Kishwer Merchant has an acting career spanning over 23 years, and over the years, she has played really versatile roles in television shows. From playing Nonie in Hip Hip Hurray, to being a part of several popular TV shows such as Miley Jab Hum Tum, Kkavyanjali, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahani, Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan and others- Kishwer has delivered some brilliant performances. As for films, she was seen in Bheja Fry 2, and Hum Tum Aur Shabana. In a recent interview, Kishwer talked about why she mostly stuck to TV roles, and also opened up about an unpleasant casting couch experience that made her turn down the film offer and walk away.
While speaking to ETimes, Kishwer said that small roles in films serve no purpose and that she continued to play TV roles as she thinks it gives one more recognition. As for films, she said that she went for a few meetings, but knew that she didn’t have a Bollywood face, neither was she comfortable wearing a bikini. On being asked if she faced the problem of casting couch, Kishwer said that she did face it once. She said that her mom had accompanied her to a meeting. “I was told that I'll have to sleep with the hero. I politely turned down the offer and we left,” she said. She also added that the actor and the producer were very big names.
However, Kishwer added that she wouldn’t say that it happens a lot. “Industry badnaam hai lekin har industry mein ye cheez hoti hai,” she said.
Kishwer is happily married to Suyyash Rai, and is expecting their first child together. Ever since Kishwer announced her pregnancy a few months ago, she has been posting the most adorable pictures flaunting her baby bump, and sharing her pregnancy journey.
