The makers of Indian Idol 11 must not have anticipated the severe backlash they would have to face after reinstating Anu Malik on the judging panel of the singing reality show. Well, Anu Malik’s comeback did not sit well with many people, including those from the music and film industry, who called out and slammed the channel for bringing him back even after several #MeToo accusations leveled against Anu Malik. Sona Mohapatra, who had been miffed with the channel right from the moment the news of Anu Malik’s comeback hit the Internet and is still speaking up about it. The allegations refuse to be silenced down and in the middle of all this, Anu Malik might be asked to step down as the judge.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the channel might ask Anu Malik to step down as the judge and might be shown the door in the next few weeks. In the wake of severe backlash that Anu Malik and the channel has been facing, the channel has been thinking whether they want to continue working with the music composer. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Anu Malik may be shown the door in the next few weeks. They thought the backlash against him had quietly died down. On one hand, singers Sona Mohapatra and Neha Bhasin are speaking up against Anu Malik’s comeback in Indian Idol 11, another singer Hema Sardesai has backed Anu Malik and has supported him, saying that he has respectfully given her songs on merit alone.
