Mr Bajaj Aka Karan Patel Gives His Opinion On Pay Cuts And Unpaid Dues During Lockdown; Feels One Should Understand The Producers Too
The new Mr Bajaj and TV actor Karan Patel speaks about pay cuts and nonpayment of dues faced by certain TV shows’ cast and crew during the lockdown
TV actor Karan Patel who is currently in news for stepping into the shoes of the popular character of Mr. Bajaj in the TV show Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, has opened up about the ongoing financial crisis in the industry due to lockdown. The actor, who has remained outspoken about several topics till date, has also given his opinion on pay cuts and nonpayment of dues of the cast and crew of several TV shows amidst the lockdown in an interview with Pinkvilla. With the outbreak of COVID-19, India was under lockdown which got many TV shows' shoots to a standstill thus affecting the income of the people.
Karan feels this time has been a difficult one for everyone in the industry, from the broadcasters to the production houses to the cast and crew of the shows. Hence, he feels, understanding each other will solve this problem more easily. Also speaking about his experience of working with producers in the industry, he feels production houses like Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji and a few more, he has never had a bad experience when it came to his payments.
He said, “Luckily, I have never had any bad experience with any producers, not as I have worked with a lot of producers but Ekta, Balaji I have worked with for the longest time and I can vouch for it that they are possibly the best paymasters in the industry. Don't take my word for it, I have heard similar things with a lot of other people. Apart from them, there are so many good producers like Rajan Shahi Sir, Shashi Sumeet Sir. There are good paymasters but sometimes the payment perhaps takes a little longer time.”
Adding further he says, “But, right now the producers are also going through a little rough time. As an actor, if we can be a little more understanding of the producer, I think yeh mamla thoda easily solve hoga. Also more than pay cuts, he feels lucky enough to have work on his plate, which is not the scenario for everyone in the industry. “I have been blessed and lucky that way. More than the pay cuts or pay scale, I feel lucky and fortunate that I have got a show when there is a shortage of work. I feel grateful. Apart from that, payments upar niche hote rehte hai, it is life. It is a phase,” said Karan.
