Television actress Munmun Dutta, who is popularly known for playing the character of Babita Ji on the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, finally gets relief as the Supreme Court has put a stay on 5 FIRs filed against her. As per reports, the five FIRs against Munmun have been filed through different parts of the country. Talking about the FIRs, they were filed against Munmun Dutta after she used a casteist slur in one of her make-up videos.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the five FIRs were filed against the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress under Section 3(1)(u) Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. As per the report, Justices Hemant Gupta and V Ramasubramaniam have issued a notice on Dutta’s plea to consolidate the five FIRs.
As per the report, during the hearing, Munmun’s lawyer claimed that she wasn’t aware of the real and actual meaning of the word she said in her video. The report mentioned that during the hearing after Munmun’s lawyer said the actress wasn’t aware of the word she used, the court rejected it and stated it to not be true because the same word is used in Bangla.
Meanwhile, Munmun Dutta faced severe backlash after the video of her using the casteist slur surfaced online. After Dutta, former Bigg Boss contestant Yuvika Chaudhary was also trolled for using a casteist slur in a video she posted on Instagram.
