Nikhil Advani directing Homeland for Star Plus
After the twin debacles of Hero and Katti Batti, Nikhil Advani has found a way to redeem himself. The Salaam-e-Ishq director has been roped in to helm the Hindi remake of Hatufim, an Israeli TV show of which Homeland was a remake.

SpotboyE has exclusively learnt that the main characters of the show will be played by Satyadeep Mishra (No One Killed Jessica, Bombay Velvet), Sandhya Mridul, Amrita Puri and Purab Kohli.

A source close to the development reveals to SpotboyE that the show has been modified to suit the Indian audience. So while Homeland saw Damian Lewis battling it out in Iraq and Hatufim had soldiers captured in Lebanon, the local version will tell the story of two Indian soldiers (Satyadeep Mishra and Purab Kohli ) returning home from the Kargil war.

The difficulty they face in readjusting to the new life after returning forms the essence of the show, as one of them discovers that his wife has moved on with his brother. Meanwhile, RAW agent (Manish Choudhary) tails them, with the suspicion that they’ve aligned to the ISI.

Says a source, "The show has been written in a way that it will resonate with Indian TV audience as it is a  strong family drama. It goes on floors in March and a total of 84 episodes will be shot in the first season."
