When Sony and Siddhartha Basu announced the third season of 10 Ka Dum, fans waited with bated breath to witness Salman Khan host the show after 9 years.
In fact, the promos of the game show, which had the superstar ask interesting questions to participants aroused multiple grins and further heightened curiosity. The superstar even shot for a dance video just before the show hit TV screens. Clearly, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star gave it all. However, looks like something is undoubtedly amiss in this season, for fans have not lapped it up.
So what went wrong?
To begin with, Season 2 aired at 9 pm which is the primetime slot on television. The ongoing Season 3 airs at 8.30 pm on weekends, a good 30 minutes before what is considered the popular slot. Did this hamper the show’s ratings?
Also, when the last season aired – 9 years ago – reality shows enjoyed a monopoly on the weekends; whereas now, the audience has a number of options on Saturday and Sunday.
To feature in Top 10 Thursday list is the dream of every production house. For that matter, the first half of the day in most channels/ production houses is dedicated to the ‘numbers’ of the show.
However, the reality game show has not once featured in the coveted list. To tell you, it hasn’t been able to find a spot in Top 20 either, which for a show that enjoys popularity and stature of the likes of Kaun Banega Crorepati and Bigg Boss, is rather concerning.
10 Ka Dum is one of Sony’s flagship shows, so should we assume that plans are being hashed to turn tables?
