A day after announcing her death on Instagram, Poonam Pandey released a video statement on Saturday, asserting her continued existence. She explained that the purpose behind the false death news was to raise awareness about cervical cancer. However, this 'awareness stunt' has faced backlash from netizens, leaving the nation shocked and angered. In response to the criticism, Poonam Pandey publicly apologized for her actions during an Instagram Live session with Hauterrfly. She expressed regret for hurting her friends and loved ones and clarified that the campaign was intended to promote awareness about cervical cancer, without any financial gain. Speaking about it, she said, "I think I have hurt a lot of people, a lot of my friends and loved ones. I feel terrible. I’ve been receiving a lot of calls. But I did this for a cause. The controversial actress emphasized the personal significance of the cause by revealing that her mother had battled cancer, making it deeply meaningful to her. Despite acknowledging the drastic nature of her actions, she believes that her message about cervical cancer has been effectively conveyed. Expressing satisfaction, she noted that messages about cervical cancer have dominated discussions since the incident, affirming that the core message was on target. Even after facing criticism and anger from close friends like Saisha and Shardul, Poonam stands by the success of her intended message.




She further disclosed that her whereabouts were unknown, catching even her PR team off guard. Expressing regret, she apologized to Parul (PR manager), Saisha, and Shardul for any pain caused, emphasizing that the unconventional step was solely for a noble cause. Aware of the anticipated criticism, Poonam stands firm in her belief in the message and pledges to intensify efforts in raising awareness about cervical cancer, including engaging with cancer patients.
