Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has made a name for himself in the Hindi entertainment industry with his versatile performances. Over the years, he has entertained audiences with his acting prowess through Bollywood movies and television serials. He filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police station on December 30, 2023, after he was scammed of Rs 85,000 by a cyber fraudster who claimed to be an army personnel.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the 69-year-old actor reported to the police that the accused identified as Aditya Kumar. He had obtained Bedi’s contact details from a housing portal where he had advertised his Pune flat for sale. It was on December 25, that Kumar had posed as a potential buyer and requested pictures of the apartment. The accused had shared purported government and army identity cards along with photos in army uniform.

The following day, the Chashme Buddoor actor was informed that a senior officer was interested in purchasing the Pune flat. For the transaction through an Army account, he was asked by the accused to initiate a Rs 1 transaction through GPay. Kumar has assured him of a subsequent transfer of Rs 50,000 as a token amount. When Bedi informed him that he had not received any money, the scammer explained that as it involved an Indian Army account, both accounts needed a similar balance for the transaction to take place.

The actor was then asked to transfer them the money which he did. As per the media publication, he proceeded to make additional transactions of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000. It was after the three transactions that the actor realised the deception. He sought a refund from the scammer, who had ceased all communication.
