Over the past few months, internet sensation Rakhi Sawant has been a trending topic on social media. Owing to the ongoing drama with her estranged husband Adil Khan Durrani and her ex-best friend Rajshree More, she has not been shying away from washing her dirty laundry in front of the media. Amidst all the controversies, a few days ago, she had gone on a trip to Umrah and upon returning was seen wearing an Abaya. Soon after actress Gauahar Khan had taken to social media to condemn ‘drama hungry person’ who take Islam for granted and make a joke out of the holy pilgrimage, indirectly pointing fingers at Rakhi.
Now, during a recent outing alongside Sherlyn Chopra, the Main Hoon Na actress gave a befitting reply to Gauahar’s post. In the video that is currently going viral on social media, Sherlyn is seen supporting Rakhi and lashing out at the people who are trolling her. She expresses how no one has the right to come between the actress and the Almighty she follows. The 44-year-old actress went on to explain that the negativity she has been going through is a lot for her to handle. For the unversed, Gauahar had taken to social media to bash Rakhi for making fun of Islam. She had stated that Rakhi doesn't deserve to understand the beauty of Islam if she can discard it or accept it when it suits her ‘publicity hungry stunts’ She went on to urge a board of Islam in India or Saudi to take action against such stunts. She also expressed that wearing ‘horrendous looking abayas’ doesn’t make one a Muslim, but having an understanding of 5 pillars of Islam does.
Talking about the ongoing controversy, after tying the knot in 2022, Rakhi and Adil’s relationship fell apart when she accused him of extra-marital affairs, sexual harassment and physical abuse. She went on to allege that he also mishandled her funds and accused him of killing her mother by not paying for her cancer treatment when the actress was busy shooting for Bigg Boss Marathi season 4. She filed an FIR against him under sections 406, 420 498 (A), and 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
