Shilpa Agnihotri On ‘Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal’ Being TROLLED As ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Rip-Off; Says, ‘Don’t Even Have The Bandwidth To Match The Quality’
Shilpa Agnihotri spoke about how unfair it is to compare Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal to Hollywood’s renowned show The Vampire Diaries
Television actress Shilpa Agnihotri made her big comeback to the small screens with the serial Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal. Starring Reem Shaikh, Gashmeer Mahajani, Karan Kundrra in the lead role, ever since its launch, the show has been subjected to a lot of trolling due to its stark similarities with Hollywood’s much-loved show The Vampire Diaries. From the storyline, poor VFX to interactions between the characters, the show has become a meme as the internet has dubbed it a ‘cheap rip-off’.
During her recent interview with Hindustan Times, Shilpa expressed how unfair it was to compare the shows as the first season of the series was shot in nine months and they shot the plot of that season in 26-35 days. She went on to add, “We don’t even have the bandwidth to match the quality, so how can we even compare the two shows. She told the media publication how it came as a shock to her when she learned that the entire team of the serial works for 17-18 hours every day. She was further asked to comment on should the showrunners in India focus on what they are good at making rather than copying the West. The 41-year-old actress expressed that if everyone kept wondering about the ‘what ifs’ no one would have thought to make successful serials on dayans and naagins. Shilpa went on to add, “If tomorrow, I wish to recreate Grey’s Anatomy, as a producer I might have certain ideas and expectations regarding the show. But everything sort of changes when you start the groundwork. Once the channel has approved the project, makers have to get verifications, look into what the audience want and what they don’t, wahan se aate aate everything changes. Kya soch kar nikalte hain, aur kya banne lagta hai and finally kya banta hai, uss mein most of the time bohot difference hota hai.”
On the personal front, after tying the knot with actor Apurva Agnihotri in 2004, Shilpa embraced parenthood for the first time and welcomed their daughter Ishaani Kanu Agnihotri in December 2022.
