Karishma Sawant became the victim of cyber-bullying after receiving hateful and mean comments on her personal DM by a kid
Ever since the surge in the use of social media, it has become easy for its users to bully and troll anyone. Celebrities are often seen taking the brunt of hateful and mean comments directed at them. While many choose to ignore these messages, they often open up about the impact it have on their mental health.
The most recent celebrity to become a victim of cyberbullying is Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s Karishma Sawant. The actress who plays the role of Aarohi recently took to her Instagram stories to address the same. She shared three stories regarding the incident. Her first story consisted of a kid sending her mean and hurtful DMs; they called her names and even weight shamed her. On her second story, she shared a screenshot of the kid’s IG post and wrote, ‘I wish you get well soon kid’. On the third story, she addressed the entire issue and revealed that she had waited, tolerated and though about posting her previous stories.
She wrote, "Waited, Tolerated and Thought a lot before posting my previous story here and I came to realize that no matter how harsh it might be by addressing the bitter truth of our society especially when it’s coming from the younger generations could never go wrong. I believe it’s the parents’ right as well as the responsibility to know and stop their children from being on apps they aren’t allowed to… and along with that shamelessly practising cyber bully. For the unversed, Karishma’s character Aarohi is often seen creating trouble for Akshara and Abhimanyu. While many have commended her for playing a grey character so effortlessly, she is often on the receiving end of hatred for trying to create problems between their favourite couple. In one of her interviews, the young star has opened up about getting hate online. She had expressed that she understood why people hated her for playing Aarohi. She also shared that right her only focus is to better her craft.
