Sonu Nigam Asked My Husband To ‘Keep Me In Check’ During Me Too, Claims Sona Mohapatra

Singer Sona Mohapatra says that during Me Too last year, when she had accused Kailash Kher of making inappropriate statements and advances at her, Sonu Malik had called her husband Ram Sampath and asked him to “keep her in check.”

MeToo movement that took the world by storm made a dent in India too. A bunch of men were outed by women, the women claimed these men had behaved nothing short of sexual predators and/or made a pass at them or sought sexual favours. Known to be extremely vocal, singer Sona Mohapatra had also raised her voice and called out singer Kailash Kher for his repeated inappropriate comments and advances. Anu Malik who had to step down from his position as the judge on Sony TV’s Indian Idol last year as several allegations were hurled at him, however, he is back on the judge’s chair this year. He is co-judging the show’s 11th season with Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar. When he was appointed back in the position, Sona had aptly questioned the decision to rehire a man accused of Me Too.

While several social media users are questioning Sony TV’s decision to have Malik back in the hot seat, one such user, took to Twitter and voiced his concern, to which Sona had a reply. The user wrote, “I saw Anu Malik back on #IndianIdol Seems like all the men who were outed during #MeToo last year are back in business.” The user questioned the committees that acquitted them, going on to elaborate that he felt these committees were made up of their well wishers. “All the courage mustered by women going down the drain,” he further added.







Sona targeted not just Anu Malik with her stern reply to the twitter user but she also blasted Sonu Nigam. “Sonu Nigam championed the cause of Anu Malik publicly & his right to be earning millions on nationalTV while saying he’s his mothers son etc to justify his understanding of @IndiaMeToo .Had called Ram Sampath to ‘keep me in check’ while calling me a ‘terrorist’.Must be happy now.”
