TMKOC Producer Asit Modi On Dayaben’s Comeback: ‘I Also Want Her On The Show, But Few Things Aren’t Possible During Pandemic’

It has been over three years now since Dayaben aka Disha Vakani has been missing from the popular comedy show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Fans have been wanting to see her make a comeback on the show for a long time, however, there has been no concrete update about her return on the show. There had been reports that the makers are trying to get Dayaben back on the show, but that it has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now, TMKOC producer Asit Modi also opened up about it, and here’s what he has to say.
Asit Modi, while speaking with ETimes, said that even he wants to see Dayaben back on the show, however certain things aren’t possible amid the Coronavirus pandemic. He requested fans to understand their situation, and support them for the next few months. “I understand that the audience has got tired of waiting for Daya bhabhi and they want to see her back and I can understand their sentiments. I can understand that the viewers want to see Daya Ben and even I want to see her again on the show,” he said.
He further added, “From an audience perspective if I see I also want Daya Bhabhi on the show, but during this pandemic few things are not possible and the audience will have to support me for the next 2-3 months. I request them to understand our situation."
It was in 2017 that Disha Vakani, who played Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, had taken a break from the show as she was expecting her first child.
