Being a celebrity has its own pros and cons, and being famous isn’t always fun. While social media has made stars more accessible to their fans, it also means that they are under the radar 24/7 and are nitpicked for each word they say. They are responsible for what they are saying as they do hold a lot of power and have great influence on people in general. One wrong word, and there’s a furore on social media. While celebs today face outrage for every controversial statement, that wasn’t the case back in the ‘90s. Now, a viral tweet claims that TV actress Deepshikha Nagpal once made a very controversial statement and got away with it.
A post on Twitter shows a picture of an old magazine or newspaper cutout, in which Deepshikha can be seen striking a pose. Next to the image are the printed words, “Deepshikha: My fantasy is to rape my boyfriend.” The post was shared with the caption stating that back in the 90s, Bollywood stars and even female actors got away by making problematic statements. “The kind of things Bollywood stars, even female actors, used to say in the 1990s and get away without much ado...” , read the caption.
While one comment read, “Female actors get away relatively scott free even today!,” while in another comment, a user stated that quite a lot of superstars were problematic in their early days.

Over the years, things have changed, and stars today are quite mindful of what they say, as everything is documented on social media. The biggest celebrities in Bollywood have faced the wrath of Netizens over their controversial statements. While people may have gotten away with saying a lot of things easily back then, social media has completely changed that.
