Sudhanshu Pandey shares his personal views on Rupali Ganguly’s character Anupama getting married in the show
Rupali Ganguly and Sudhanshu Pandey starrer popular daily soap 'Anupamaa' is one of the most loved and top-rated shows on Indian television. The family drama has been ruling all TRP charts ever since it aired and has managed to create a space in the hearts of the audience and viewers. The current track of the show is focused on Anupama and Anuj’s marriage and the preparations for the same are going on in full swing. For the unversed, Anupama ended her marriage with Vanraj Shah after he cheated on her. She has now found love again in her childhood friend Anuj Kapadia and has agreed to marry him.
While Babuji, Samar, Kinjal, and Paakhi have come out in her support, Baa is totally against it and has even cursed Anupama for marrying despite being a grandmother. Kinjal is pregnant with her first child and Anupama will soon become a grandmother. Thus, Leela is worried about how society will react and accept a grandmother marrying again. This track has received mixed reactions from the audience. While some have accepted it wholeheartedly, a certain section of people is against Anupama remarrying in her late 50s. In an exclusive chat with SpotboyE, Sudhanshu Pandey, who plays Vanraj Shah in the show, shared his views on the same and asserted that the idea is to give the audience a perspective that women can have a choice. He shared, “I feel it’s a very personal choice. A woman like Anupama what she is doing is her own choice. She was wronged by her husband and felt cheated at some point. There must be a section of people who do not like it and are not happy with Anupama getting married again at this age. A lot of people would feel that way because they are not able to relate to this. But, the idea is to give the audience a perspective that women can understand that she has a choice, she can take a call for her life and can make her own decision.”
Meanwhile, following a humongous response that the show has been getting, a prequel of ‘Anupamaa’ titled Anupama Namaste America will soon make its way on the OTT platform. The 11-episodic series will take the audience 17 years back into Anupama’s past life and will start streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar from April 25.
