Lokesh Sharma, who entered as a commoner in the reality show Bigg Boss 10, is a celebrity now. The actress is trying to make a mark in the glamour industry and she has finally bagged a lead project in film 'Myakut' opposite Nautanki Saala fame Rufy Khan.
Lokesh is playing a porn star in the film and has gone through a huge transformation from Bigg Boss till now. Here's all that she disclosed to us about her big break.
How do you see your journey from Bigg Boss till here?
I came to Mumbai for the first time for Bigg Boss. And after gaining fame from Big Boss my journey became even more challenging. I used to be very upset as people started trolling me for my looks and calling me ugly. After coming out of the show, when I went through those comments there was only one thing in my mind that I have to prove myself!
You are playing a porn star in the film?
Yes, I am playing a porn actor but the story behind that is something to look out for. I'm really glad and happy that I took this up as I got to show my acting skills. I enjoyed this character. I loved it. I was set in my mind that I will give my 100 percent into this character.
What challenges did you face in playing this role?
So, I have a few bold scenes in this film and I'm now confident because I have really worked hard on my body. I always wanted to play a bold and challenging character. I'm playing a double role in this film. Also, I had work on my communication skills. So, of course there were a lot of challenges before me as there was no contact in the industry.
How is your family reacting to it?
Initially, everyone was happy in my family that my first film is coming but when I told them the story of the film they were quite reluctant about it. My mom and sister liked the trailer though. I'm hoping for the best.
What all homework you have to do to make your character look convincing?
I watched porn movies to understand and get more into the character. Also, as I'm playing a double role, so for another one I have to look like a village girl. So, for that also I had to prepare.
You always wanted to become an actress?
I was very much determined to become an actress. But I never thought that I would get to play a lead role one day. I have always been interested in dancing and modeling since my childhood. I used to watch beauty pageants and TV shows and try to imitate them. Then during my college days, I joined theatre. Initially my family was hesitant about this but I convinced them. I always wanted to entertain and become an artist.
Did you have to face rejections?
Rejections happened many times. I got rejected and sometimes, I rejected a few which I didn't understand. So, it happens in life but I took rejection in a very positive way and worked on myself.
Turning a lead for the film is a big opportunity. How did you come across this?
So, one day while working out, my director Rufy Khan approached me. When the director narrated everything to me, I really liked the character. I loved the script and said yes for it. I got to learn a lot throughout the process as the character was challenging.
You have transformed yourself completely, does the showbiz demand it or it was your personal choice?
I did it because of my personal choice as well as to work in this industry. I worked really hard to bring this transformation. Moreover it was my personal choice because to work in Industry you have to be physically fit. It was in my mind from when I was in Bigg Boss house where I saw a lot of actors and celebrities. So, after coming out of the house, I realized how much I have to work on myself. I wanted to fulfill my dream in this industry.
What message do you want to give to the people with your achievements?
Love yourself and have self-respect. I know a lot of body shaming happens when you are a public figure and in this industry. People troll a lot and say a lot of things but they don't know how it affects someone. Literally I used to get tears while working out. But I was fully determined and focused towards my goal. In this way I brought transformation in me and religiously followed my workout regimen and diet.
