Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2's Prerna, Erica Fernandes Says, 'I Am Ready For Comparisons With Shweta Tiwari'
Just a few hours shy of the TV premiere of Ekta Kapoor's romantic reboot of Kasautii Zindagii Kay, SpotboyE.com brings you an EXCLUSIVE chat with Erica Fernandes. Erica plays Prerna Basu in the show, a role earlier essayed by Shweta Tiwari
Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 will be hitting your TV screens tomorrow evening. SpotboyE.com had exclusively told you the reason why Ekta choose September 25 as the show’s premiere date. And now, just 24 hrs shy of the show’s big premiere, Prerna aka Erica Fernandes gets upclose and personal with SpotboyE.com sharing her excitement. She also talks about her co-stars Parth Samthaan and Hina Khan, and producer Ekta Kapoor. Read on:
Congratulations Erica, you are part of one of the biggest shows and playing one of the most anticipated characters on TV this year
Thank you so very much. Honestly it feels great, in fact it feels like I’m on top of the world, I would say. It’s a very different feeling. It’s like entering some dream land, I’m in La La Land (laughs). Because of the association with Star Plus, Balaji Telefilms, Kasautii Zindagii Kay has been so big in the past and when I got this opportunity, it felt like I was part of a dream. Everything related to the show makes me feel wow and gives me goose bumps.
You didn’t even have to audition for the role. That’s like getting really lucky
See I can’t use the term lucky. In a way my hard work that has brought this show my way. I would say I’m lucky in the sense that Ekta saw my previous work, and that paid off. I think it was destined to happened like that. Also I’m a strong believer of karma and destiny that you do good, and something good will happen to you.
When did you come to know that the role is yours?
Ekta had signed me even before she planned the romantic reboot of Kasautii. She had seen my show Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi (Sony TV) and decided to wanted me in her next. The show shaped up much later. When I signed the contract all I was told that something really good is coming my way. Team Balaji told me that I’ll have to wait a little, but I wouldn’t regret it in the end.
Are you ready for comparisons with Shweta Tiwari that will soon come your way?
I’m sure there will be comparisons and I’m ready for it. What she has done is already seen and discussed by the audience. In my capacity, I will deliver something that fans can relate to now. She was Prerna of that generation and I will be Prerna of the current generation. And I think people of this generation will have a closer connect with my character.
Cezzane Khan had a massive female following. Were also an ardent fan of his?
Cezzane was fine, but I really liked Anupam's character on the show. I thought he was really funny.
How is has the experience been so far?
The way we are shooting the show – it’s larger than life. It doesn't make me feel as if I’m shooting for a daily soap. They shooting on a massive scale, it’s a huge production.
Everyone wanted to know who will play Anurag. Did you know it was going to be Parth?
I was equally curious to know trust me. I used to call them and check kab finalise hoga Anurag? Kab start karenge shooting? And they would be like, ruk jaao ruk jaao abhi tak Anurag nahi mila. More than anyone else I was the one chewing their brains. Anurag was finalised just before we shot our first promo together. Because if you see the song also Anurag face wasn't revealed as I shot it with a duplicate.
Did you know Parth from before?
No my first meeting happened with him on the promo set. I had never watched his previous shows but I had heard about him because when I was doing Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi. We had common fans who wanted me to be paired opposite him. They used to make edits of our pictures and send them to me. So when I saw him I was like - Dekha hai isse dekha haim and then I said yahi hai vo.
Though a glimpse of Komolika is already out in the promos, do you know who is playing her - Hina Khan or Krystle D'souza?
I am also confused Hina hai yaa Krystle hai. As we also know some surprise element is being planned. We haven’t been informed who is playing Komolika.
Who do you think fits the role better?
Really difficult to answer as both are beautiful and innocent. As this character doesn't want a person to look negative. It requires a beautiful face with that is slightly sly and bitchy. I will be equally happy whoever takes it.
