Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi Actress Aaradhana Uppal On Going Bald: 'People Think I Have Cancer And Going Through Chemotherapy'- EXCLUSIVE
TV actress Aaradhana Uppal, who has been a part of popular shows like Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, Jana Na Dil Se Door, Sadda Haq and Kitani Mohabbat Hai, has been away from the small screen since some time and keeping herself busy in the world of art.

Recently, Aaradhana shared a few pictures on social media where we noticed that the actress has gone bald. We got in touch with the actress to know the reason behind taking this step. Excerpts from our conversation:

Why did you decide to go bald?
I have always been different and never adhered to any norm. I am quite weird at times and I follow my heart. I wanted to feel the freedom of not looking the way that the society wants to look at women. Also, I believe beauty is much deeper than just physicality.

What was the reaction of people around you?
There was a mixed reaction. Most of them have embraced it and said that I am carrying the look well and I am thankful to them for their support and encouragement. But not everyone is okay with what I have done. There are some people who ask me 'WHY?' And I reply to them, 'WHY NOT?'

Some of them are extremely concerned and wondering if I am suffering from Cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. Now, that's sweet but I tell them that I don't have cancer and this decision is by choice. Honestly, I find bald is beautiful and it's extremely empowering.

Do you feel odd when you go out and people take notice of you?
Don't know if people are noticing or looking at me but I definitely look at them because I think I carry the look well. I walk even more confidently now. In fact, earlier I used to wonder if I am looking good or not but now, what can be more carefree than going bald?

Can you recall any incident where someone came up to you and expressed concern over you being a Cancer patient?
Recently, I went to Pune and on my way back, a gentleman stopped me and he claimed that I had Bone Cancer. So, he was very specific that what kind of Cancer I have and gave me a cure for it also as he wanted to give me his number. I found that very odd.

Aaradhana

Does that disturb you?
Not at all. People laugh, people cry. No matter how you are, people will always judge you. So, I don't get affected.

Are you not worried that you may not get projects with this look?
I have been away from the television industry, since the time my father passed away. But now, I am ready to see myself back on-screen. It will be interesting to see if I get bombarded with wigs and offers or I am just discarded as a bald person who should not come on television. I also have a concept that I would like to go ahead with- it is something based on Cancer. If that pans out, I will be super thrilled.
