Divyanka: He was just a co-actor. I had fractured my leg and he casually told me one day 'Oh, hi'.
Vivek: She has got this persona she commands respect, whether it's her physicality or status. I hadn't heard much of her then but only knew that she was from the creme-de-la creme of Indian television.
So, there was no physical attraction during the first meet?
Divyanka: Not at all. No spark flew. Healthy flirting is okay but he didn't even indulge in that.
Vivek: Is the guy supposed to be healthy?
Divyanka: (Laughs) No, the girl is supposed to be healthy.
Vivek: On a serious note, I had a perspective that I won't date any actor. I never imagined that I will start liking an actor. Both of us have had a past.
So, there was no physical attraction during the first meet?
Divyanka: Not at all. No spark flew. Healthy flirting is okay but he didn't even indulge in that.

Vivek: On a serious note, I had a perspective that I won't date any actor. I never imagined that I will start liking an actor. Both of us have had a past.
So how did it all pan out?
Divyanka: I was sitting at home, alone and quiet.
Maybe you were brooding?
Divyanka: Yes, I was brooding, feeling lonely and sorrowful. And then suddenly, my mom came down to say that I should start going out to party.
And you'll bumped into each other in a party?
Vivek: Yes. I was very joyful on that for some reason and I tried to dance with her. Now when you dance with someone, there is bound to be some eye contact and smile exchanged. But i didn't get that from her. So, I thought that she was a very arrogant person. And I wondered if her arrogant behaviour was due to the fact that I was playing a character role and she was playing the lead.
Divyanka: Look, I was single but not ready to mingle. But I had sort of closed myself.
Vivek: For the record, I was not hitting on her.
Divyanka: It had nothing to do with you, but I had become very careful about boys. I had developed this notion that 'boys are just generally not good'.

Divyanka: Next morning, we found that there was a picture doing the rounds where I was standing very close to him. Certain fans cropped that photo and labelled it as Divek. We spoke to each other and laughed it off (pauses).

The story goes further that my mom had asked Pankaj Bhatia (another co-actor in YHM) to find a groom for me. And Pankaj told me 'Vivek Dahiya',

Divyanka: We had a scene after that and I couldn't perform.
Vivek: I spoke to Divyanka and said: Let's sit and talk. I want to clarify a few things.Let me get this load off my chest. And we sat exactly in this room where we are talking to you.

She wanted to know that why I wanted to marry her. She told me about her flaws and had no insecurities about them!

Vivek: No, I wouldn't like to make that public. Frankly, it was nothing significant. But I fell for her.

Divyanka: Even I was looking for someone whom I could give my everything- and vice versa. Woh kehte hain na- ek ho jaana? That's what I wanted. Confused hoke ghumte raho, aakhir kab tak? Agar shuru mein wavelength nahin jam rahi hai, toh kyun lambe time tak koshish kar rahe ho, woh nahin aane wala hai'? Divyanka. That's because I have been where he is. I know how it is. There's also this notion that I may have given a push to Vivek's career. Can I recommend myself? No, I cannot. Then how can I recommend Vivek? I have spent raddi to feed my pet dog. I have gone though tough times in my early days. I was hand-to-mouth. Above all, every channel monitors the feedback on every character so closely and people are ousted. Why only characters, even shows are pulled off air if and when they don't work.
Vivek: Recommendation to aajkal films mein bhi nahin chalta.
