Sangita Ghosh: I Can't Be The Sexiest Actress On TV Now
TV actress Sangita Ghosh (Pammi of Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand), who recently made a big comeback with daily soap Parvarrish Season 2, is excited about her second innings on television. In an exclusive interview with SpotboyE, the actress opened up about handling a newly-revived career and her long-distance marriage to polo player Shailendra Singh Rajput. Read on:

You are playing a mother for the first time...
Surinder (her character in the show) is not a regular mom. Unlike mothers who are control freaks, she wants her kids to fly. She is a young mother, as she got married very early.

Do you connect her with your own mother?
My parents were very liberal, they never stopped me from doing what I liked. I started working very early and initially, my mom used to accompany me. But after a point, she stopped doing so. Even my mother-in-law is an ideal blend of traditional and modern values. So, I take inspiration from both.

Now that you're playing a mother on screen, when will we get to hear the good news for real?
Well, it's not in our hands, so let's see.

Yours is a long-distance marriage...

I have been married for five years and Shailendra (her husband) is extremely sweet and understanding. These days, I spend a lot of time in Mumbai, but he has never pressurised me to go and stay with him in Jaipur. We keep visiting each other whenever we get time and that has kept the charm alive.

Tell us three things you like and dislike about Shailendra...

Good qualities first. I think my husband can be friends with anyone. Secondly, he is very rooted in his traditions. Lastly, I respect him for the way he loves animals. His not-so-good qualities are, he stays away from me a lot. Though it's not his fault, I miss him. What I also don't like about him is that he never gets tired and wants to socialise all the time. I don't want to list any more complaints, because, I love him.

What's the one special thing you did for him?
I got married to him. What can be more special than that?

We are seeing you on screen after two years. Do you see this as your comeback show?
There are no more comebacks for actors. Now, with YouTube and other websites airing all shows online, people watch you pehle bhi, abhi bhi. I didn't disappear, I was just waiting for a good show.

Have you noticed any changes in the industry between then and now?
From the type of shows to how they are made, everything has changed. Earlier, there used to be a small unit of 30-40 people, but now it has increased to 80. In one way, it's good because there are many people to help you at work. But at times, I get confused.

Do you follow television?
Not much. When I am not working, I am a lot busier. I love taking care of my house -- cooking for my husband, taking care of the laundry... in short, looking after every minute detail of the household.

You enjoy being a housewife?
Hats off to all women, including me. If a woman can manage a household, she can do anything. Agar ghar ki zindagi thik ho, to bahar ki zindagi bhi thik hogi. It is very important that you take care of your household because no matter what, at the end of the day, you have to return home.

There are no more household names on television now...
There weren't many entertainment options for the viewers back then. Earlier, shows used to run for two-three years, but now, barring a few, they don't run for long. So, viewers are given something new to connect with at regular intervals.

You were once considered the sexiest actress on television...
I know...(smiles).

Who would win that title today?

I don't even know names of the actors now. I don't want to offend anyone, but I really have to start watching television shows.

Do you want to keep that title for yourself?
No, I can't be the sexiest anymore. The girls today are all well-prepared and well-groomed.
