Ahmedabad Air India Plane Crash: UK Influencers Jamie And Fiongal Meek Share Final Video Before Tragic Takeoff Disaster
A Boeing 787‑8 Dreamliner operating as Air India Flight AI 171, bound for London Gatwick, tragically crashed moments after departing Ahmedabad International Airport on June 12, 2025. Among its 242 passengers and crew were two well-known UK social media influencers: yoga enthusiast and spiritual wellness guru Jamie Meek, 45, and his partner Fiongal Greenlaw‑Meek, 39. The couple had shared a heartfelt farewell video from their hotel before heading to the airport. “So it’s our last night in India. … we’ve had a magical experience … mind‑blowing things have happened… we’re going to put this all together and create a vlog,” Fiongal said. Jamie added: “It would be so nice to remember this and share it… we’ve just had the most delicious thali food… excited to share it all with you.”

They recorded how calm and happy they felt: “Going back happily, happily, happily calm,” Fiongal declared in the final clip. Both had been prominent on Instagram, documenting their travels—Jamie as director of The Wellness Foundry and Fiongal by his side. Their home base was in London.
The flight carried mostly Indian nationals, along with 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. Eyewitnesses watched in horror as the plane, just minutes after takeoff, descended into a building housing a dining hall at B J Medical College in the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad. The aircraft crashed within about 30 seconds of departure.
The impact resulted in the deaths of 241 people aboard and at least 28 on the ground. There was a sole survivor: 40-year-old passenger Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, seated in 11A, who walked away from the wreckage.
This disaster is India’s deadliest airliner accident in nearly three decades. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities analyzing data from the aircraft’s black box and gathering information about the events leading to the crash.
