Baba Bageshwar Responds To YouTubers Who Slammed Him For Wearing Luxury Sunglasses And A ₹60,000 Gucci Jacket During His Trip!
Baba Bageshwar, also known as Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, is currently on a tour of Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand (June 3–26, 2025), with plans to visit the UK, Oman, and the UAE in July 2025. As head priest at Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, he preaches Sanatan Dharma. Recently, he grabbed headlines after being photographed in a Gucci jacket and sunglasses, reportedly costing around ₹60,000, which quickly led to a wave of trolling online.
Netizens seized upon the images of him aboard a flight—wearing luxe eyewear and a jacket—and mocked him, pointing out the irony of a spiritual leader donning such attire. Many commented that they wear modest ₹50 sunglasses, implying that the so-called “Baniya” baba must be wealthy—hardly a beggar.

Responding to the criticism, Baba expressed frustration toward the circulating YouTube videos that highlighted his attire. He explained that he felt cold during the flight in Australia and had told his disciples he needed a jacket. One of them, a young woman who had taken Diksha, gifted him the jacket—estimated at ₹60,000. Reacting to the trolls, he exclaimed: "10 Rs ka aadmi nachne wala, gande charitra ka aadmi agar doh lakh ki jacket pehen sakta hai aur mahatma agar 60,000 ki pehen le toh pet mei dard hota hai. Yeh bhi suno hum apni nai khareed ke pehne chelo ki di hui hai. Zyada pet mei dard hoh toh kal hum Rs. 1.20 lakh ki pehenge aur tum banana hamara video, dalna photo, hum nai sudhrenge."
He noted that he’d even chosen the jacket unknowingly and the sunglasses were similarly random: feeling discomfort onboard, he simply wore them—and only later discovered they were Gucci. In India, of all things, the public focused more on the brand than the message.
Clarifying further, he emphasized he didn’t purchase either item—they were gifts. He joked that next time he might "wear a Prada jacket or Jackson’s shades." His candid and fiery response has sparked debate: some are surprised to see a traditionally spiritual figure embracing modern, flashy apparel.
