Popular Bengali actor Suchandra Dasgupta passed away in a tragic road accident at the age of 29
Popular Bengali actor Suchandra Dasgupta passed away on Saturday night while returning home in Panihati from the sets. The actress died in a road accident after a lorry was run over her. She was 29. Suchandra booked the bike taxi online and was heading to her home from the shoot when this incident occurred in the Baranagar area. The lorry driver has been arrested. Baranagar Police reached the spot and cleared the road traffic which got disrupted due to the accident.
As per reports, the driver of a lorry, while crossing the Baranagar area, applied brakes when a bicycle came in front of the vehicle. At that moment, Suchandra fell from the bike and was run over by a 10-wheeler lorry. Although she wore a helmet, she died on the spot. Her helmet broke into pieces and the actress sustained multiple serious injuries. An officer of the Barrackpore police commissionerate was quoted saying, “The bike was hit by a truck at Ghoshpara, near Baranagar police station. The driver of the lorry has been arrested and the vehicle seized.”
For the unversed, Suchandra Dasgupta rose to fame with her stint on the Bengali TV serial Gauri Elo. The late actor has also appeared in several Bengali TV shows and she mostly played small roles.
In an interview, Suchandra's husband Debjyoti Sengupta opened up about her love for acting and mentioned that Dasgupta was working as a sidekick in several serials for the past few months. But for her, it was like an addiction. Sometimes she had to go out for work. Yesterday, also she was shooting for a show while returning from there on a bike.
