Chrisann Pereira’s brother took to his social media handle to share an update on his sister’s arrest in a drug smuggling case
Bollywood actress Chrisann Pereira, who was arrested in Sharjah, UAE in a drug smuggling case, has been released. She was jailed earlier in April when drugs were found in a trophy that she was carrying. It was reported that she was allegedly framed in the case over a fight over a dog. Her brother Kevin, has now taken to his social media handle and revealed that she has been released from jail and they are awaiting her return to India.
In the video he posted on his Instagram, their mother can be seen happily dancing as an emotional Chrisann talks to them over a video call. He shared the post with the caption, “Chrisann is SET FREE!!! Update : We still don’t have clarity about her landing in India.” In the video he can be heard saying, “A few innocent people are going to be saved and a few innocent people that are there are gonna come out. You did this as a good deed. Come soon we cannot wait to have you.”

He also took to his Instagram story and revealed that even though she has been set free, they are clueless as to how long it will take for the Sadak 2 actress to return to India after completing all the legal procedures and signing of papers. For the unversed, she was trapped into becoming a ‘drug mule’ by Anthony Paul and Rajesh Bobhate. They posed as talent consultants and told her about an audition for a web-series in Sharjah. As per reports they had asked her to carry the trophy, which had hidden drugs in them, as a prop. Quoted by Pinkvilla, a Crime Branch official said, “He gave the trophy by hiding ganja and poppy seeds in it so that she could be caught there. After she landed, he called the Sharjah airport and told the officials that she was carrying drugs.”
On the work front, Chrisann Pereira has featured in Bollywood movies like Sadak 2, Batla House, web series ‘Thinkistan’ and has even acted in several stage plays.
