Fahadh Faasil Wants To Drive Uber In Barcelona After Retirement: 'Just Driving Someone Is A Beautiful Thing'
Fahadh Faasil, one of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated actors, recently revisited his quirky yet heartfelt retirement dream — becoming an Uber driver in Barcelona. During promotions for his film Maareesan, Fahadh opened up once again about the idea, which first came to light in a 2020 interview with Indian Express. Back then, he had said, "As of now, there is nothing else that I would enjoy doing other than being an Uber driver. I would love to drive people around. I tell my wife (Nazriya Nazim) that as a retirement plan, I wish to move to Barcelona and drive people across Spain. She loves this plan."
Now, in a fresh interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the Pushpa actor reaffirmed his unconventional aspiration. "Absolutely. We were in Barcelona a few months ago. So, yeah, of course. It’ll only happen after people are done with me, you know? I mean, jokes apart, but just to drive someone from one place to another... at least, witnessing someone’s destination, I think that’s a beautiful thing."
For Fahadh, the simplicity of the job holds deeper meaning. "I still do that every time I get a chance. That’s my time. Not just driving, you constantly engage yourself in things you love doing, be it a game or sport or watching TV. I think it helps in the way you look at things."
Despite his impressive filmography and critical acclaim, Fahadh’s retirement plan reflects his love for ordinary human interactions and a slower pace of life.
On the professional front, Fahadh will soon appear in films like Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Don’t Trouble The Trouble, Patriot, and Karate Chandran. He’s also rumored to make his Bollywood debut in Imtiaz Ali’s The Idiot of Istanbul.
