Film On Bihar Girl Jyoti Who Pedalled For 1200 Km Carrying Injured Father; Will Be Titled As ‘Atmanirbhar’
Amid the lockdown, a 15-year-old girl named Jyoti Kumari made headlines for cycling 1200 plus kilometres carrying her injured father, in May. For the unversed, 15-YO girl peddled her way with her father Mohan Paswan riding pillion to get back home in Bihar’s Darbhanga. Jyoti was invited by cycling federation to appear for a trial in June, but she reportedly turned down the offer. But now Jyoti seems to be happy with the news of a film being made on her life.

Yes, you heard that right! If the latest reports are to be believed Jyoti will play a lead role in a film that will be based on her life. The film will be titled as Atmanirbhar (self-reliant). According to a PTI report, the film will explore the issues that made Jyoti cycle for seven days, covering 1,200 plus km in May. Atmanirbhar will be directed by Shine Sharma in Hindi, English and Maithili and dubbed in other languages. The film will reportedly go on the floors in August. Upon signing the film, Jyoti told PTI, “Bahut achha lag raha hai (I feel very good).”

Earlier, speaking about her journey to Hindustan Times, Jyoti had said, “If I had not undertaken this journey, my father would have died of hunger. Problems increased after the lockdown. Our landlord wanted to throw us out. He had even cut the power twice as we hadn’t paid the rent. Since my father had no income at all, we thought of returning home somehow.”

“I had to leave my studies in eight grade but now I can go back to school. I want to study so that my father doesn’t have to migrate for work and face a similar situation again,” she had said.
