The list of trending people in 2022 featured some of the most popular personalities; let’s recall some of the most iconic events this year
Google has finally released the list of trending people in 2022 and Johnny Depp has once again topped the charts, closely followed by Will Smith. Depp made it to the headlines as she was engaged in a high-octane clash with his ex-wife Amber Heard which surprisingly saw a rise in his online followers throughout the trial.
The Depp-Heard trial took a prominent spot in users’ search history this year. The Pirates Of The Caribbean actor sued Heard in 2019 after she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse" in a 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post. Interestingly, Heard, who lost the trial also featured in the top 10 of the most searched people in Google for 2022.
Will Smith and Rock grabbed the second and seventh place respectively, and they were in the top trending ‘people’ category. Jada Pinkett Smith has also featured in the trending “actors" category.

The list of trending people in 2022 also featured Rishi Sunak, who set the ball rolling for an overhaul of an otherwise troubled British Parliament. His resignation followed by other Assembly members saw party-gate scandal-ridden Boris Johnson resign from his post as Prime Minister, as reported by the Mint.
Liz Truss took charge after Johnson resigned and she was elected next Prime Minister. But, the faulty economic plans saw Truss leave the office in less than a month. Following which Rishi Sunak took over the first Indian origin Prime Minister of United Kingdom.
Whereas in India, Sushmita Sen and Lalit Modi broke the internet after the latter declared on social media platforms Instagram and Twitter about their courtship. They bagged the fourth and fifth positions in India.
