Hema Malini Breaks Down Remembering Dharmendra At Prayer Meet, Says ‘Humara Pyaar Sachcha Tha’

At a heartfelt prayer meet held in Delhi on December 11, veteran actress and politician Hema Malini became visibly emotional while remembering her late husband, legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24, 2025. The event, organised by her and their daughters Esha and Ahana Deol to honour his memory, was full of emotion as she spoke about their long journey together. 

Hema Malini, fighting back tears, described Dharmendra as cheerful, affectionate, grounded and humble, noting that despite his success he always treated everyone with respect and love. She reflected on their life together, saying they had been associated for 57 years, acted in around 45 films together, and were embraced by the audience as one of Bollywood’s most beloved pairs. 

In her moving speech, she recalled how the person she once shared screen chemistry with became her life partner, expressing, “Humara pyaar sachcha tha,” and emphasising that their love gave them strength to face every challenge of life. She spoke of Dharmendra as a devoted husband and a pillar of support in every step of her life, and said the world’s mourning felt different from her own personal loss. 

Hema also shared that Dharmendra’s remarkable career spanned over 300 films, and that he had a deep passion for cinema, especially comedy. She reflected on how the entire nation celebrated his 90th birthday on December 8, and how people continue to express their admiration for him even after his passing. 

The prayer meet was attended by family, friends, political dignitaries and industry figures, all of whom paid tribute to Dharmendra’s enduring legacy in Indian cinema and beyond.
