November 10 was an epic moment for Mumbai Indians who won the Indian Premier League 2020 against Delhi Capitals. The team led by Rohit Sharma won by 5 wickets. However, amidst the celebratory mood, the latest news that is buzzing is that Hardik Pandya's big brother and one of the players of Mumbai Indians, Krunal Pandya was recently stopped by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Mumbai International Airport. According to the news agency, ANI, the DRI stopped him over suspicion of being in possession of undisclosed gold and other valuables while he was returning from UAE where he was playing for IPL 2020. The DRI agency works to secure India's national and economic security by preventing the outright smuggling of firearms, gold, narcotics and many more.
The news agency ANI tweeted, "Cricketer Krunal Pandya stopped by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Mumbai International Airport over suspicion of being in possession of undisclosed gold and other valuables, while returning from UAE: DRI sources" As per the Indian Government rules, male passengers travelling to India from Dubai are allowed to carry up to 20 grams of gold upon himself which should not cost more than INR 50,000 as a duty-fee allowance. While female passengers are allowed to bring up to 40 grams of gold worth INR 1 lakh. Reportedly, he is being questioned by the agency and has been asked to provide official papers.
Meanwhile, after lifting the coveted trophy of IPL 2020, Krunal took to his Instagram account and shared a picture of himself with his brother Hardik Pandya along with the trophy. He backed the picture with, "CHAMPIONS FOR THE FIFTH TIME!! Hardwork always pays off. Congratulations to everyone at @mumbaiindians and all our fans #Believe #MIChampion5"
