After the Indian Premier League 2021 auction, BCCI has finally announced the start date of the professional Twenty20 cricket league. The BCCI announced the schedule of IPL 2021 with matches starting from April 9 in Chennai. The finals will take place on May 30, at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmadabad. The announcement was shared by the Indian Premier League and BCCI on their official Twitter handle. The first match will be between Virat Kohli led IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore and IPL 2020 winning team Mumbai Indians.
Indian Premier League tweeted, “BCCI announces schedule for VIVO IPL 2021. The season will kickstart on 9th April in Chennai and the final will take place on May 30th at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.” In a mail to the IPL teams on Sunday morning, BCCI confirmed that the cities- Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata will be hosting the IPL this year. As per a report in cricbuzz.com, the Narendra Modi Cricket stadium which is set to host the IPL 2021 finals will host playoffs on May 25, May 26 and May 28 as well. The BCCI confirmed that the tournament will take place behind closed doors and the decision of allowing spectators will be taken later.

Meanwhile, the afternoon games will start at 3:30 PM IST and the evening ones will be at 7:30 PM IST. Speaking of IPL 2020, the last tournament was hosted successfully in the UAE, with all safety protocols amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. The IPL team Mumbai Indians won the tournament.
