JNU Violence: Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor Break Their Silence; ‘Strongly Oppose Any Ideology That Seeks To Divide'
The Sunday night violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi has sparked outrage among people and hundreds of people came together to protest against the brutal attack. A group of masked men and women, armed with sticks, rods, and acid, unleashed terror and violence on the campus of the prestigious institute on Sunday night. Some disturbing and triggering visuals from the violent attack have been doing the rounds of the Internet and Bollywood celebs such as Taapsee Pannu, Rajkummar Rao, Swara Bhasker, Riteish Deshmukh and others raised their voices against the violence. Now joining the list are Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor, who also broke their silence on the brutal attack.

Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram stories, condemning the violence in JNU. She called it disturbing and added that people must strongly oppose any ideology that seeks to divide, oppress and promote violence. She shared three back-to-back stories, and the first one read, “Everyday is disturbing! What is going on????????" Sharing another story, she wrote, “When students, teachers and peaceful civilians become victims of physical assault on an ongoing basis, it's time to stop pretending that all is fine. We must look truth in the eye and acknowledge that we are a house at war with itself. We, the people of this country no matter how different our ideologies, must find a human solution to all of our complex problems, and reinforce the peaceful and inclusive ideals upon which this country was built."
