We were told the future would cure all diseases and bring fortune to the masses; but, a viral AI-generated selfie says otherwise! Who would have thought, the coming years would bring disaster and disappointment?
Nevertheless, who knows what lies ahead of us?
Interestingly, a TikTok account ‘Robot Overloads’ used OpenAI’s DALL-E AI to generate what looks to be the last selfie ever taken on Earth would look like. The AI system was asked to produce what it ‘thinks’ would be the previous selfie a human can ever take on Earth.

Well, in a rather unforeseen turn of events, the program produced terrifying and creepy results, to say the least. Unfortunately, every photo looks like that of a scary and ghostly skeleton with a rather scary apocalyptic scene in the background. Surprisingly, all the humans in the four images can be seen holding a smartphone in their hands and all of them appear like mutilated and disfigured humans with eeire oversized eyes popping out and elongated fingers.
It's no surprise, the post went viral in no time and for obvious reasons not many were pleased with the results. several went on to claim that the pictures looked otherworldly and not from the planet earth.
WHAT IS DALL-E?
Launched in January 2021, the artificial intelligence software creates images based on keywords (basically the text you write). It is programmed in such a way that it can create hyper-realistic images and art from a description in natural language, as said in the description on its website!
Interestingly, the software has been named after the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí, who is renowned for his technical skill, precise draftsmanship, and striking and bizarre images in his work.
The system can also combine concepts and attributes and styles, via a process called ‘diffusion’, which starts with a pattern of random dots and gradually alters that pattern towards an image when it recognizes specific aspects of that image.
In 2021, the AI system also revealed what it ‘thinks’ is inside a black hole.
