The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was cancelled recently after some team staff members tested positive for COVID-19. The BCCI cancelled the mega event amidst the surge in the Coronavirus cases. Since then, the different IPL teams are doing their best to send players-international and Indian, back home, safely to their respective families. As international players gear up to return home,  according to a report, IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni informed his teammates that he will be the last person to board the flight back home.

In a virtual meeting with his teammates, the former India captain said that since the IPL 2021 is happening in India, the foreign players and support staff should be getting the first preference to travel back home abroad. He said that the Indian team players will depart for home later. Dhoni said he will wait for the foreign players to leave Delhi first, the Indian players will follow next from where the team is based.

Speaking with The Indian Express, a member of CSK said, “Mahibhai said that he will be the last person to leave the hotel. He wanted foreigners to leave first, then the Indian players. He will be taking the last flight tomorrow when everyone reaches their home safe and secure.” As per the report, CSK has organised a charter flight for its players from Delhi. The flight carrying CSK players went to Rajkot and Mumbai in the morning, followed by Bangalore and Chennai in the evening. The report mentioned that MS Dhoni will be flying home on Thursday evening.


Meanwhile, other IPL teams are also doing their best to send their players back home. On the other hand, it was recently that Delhi Capitals cricketer, Shikhar Dhawan got his first vaccine jab post the cancellation of IPL 2021. Cricketer Hardik Pandya is also busy spending time with his family.
