The nine days festival of Navratri begins today and here we have all the details about the rituals. It is first day of the festival, known as Ghatasthapana. During these nine days, nine different forms of the Mother Goddess are worshiped. For all those who want to celebrate the festival religiously, we bring to you the date, muhurat, puja vidhi, vrat, auspicious timings and colours. It is in states like Gujarat, it is celebrated with the dance forms Garba and Dandiya.

Ghatasthapana Muhurta falls on Pratipada Tithi. Ghatasthapana Muhurta falls during Dvi-Svabhava Kanya Lagna. The auspicious time of establishment of Kalash is going to be from 6.16 am to 7.40 am. Apart from this, for those devotees who are unable to do it, then the time from 11:48 AM to 12:35 PM is going to be auspicious for the installation of the Kalash. On the first day, devotees perform the ritual of Ghatasthapana, means devotees install a Kalash on day 1 which is immersed in water on the tenth day.

Talking about the colours, here’s the list of colours assigned each day. Day 1 Orange will be followed by White, then Red, Royal Blue, Yellow, Green, Grey, Purple, on last day the colour is Peacock Green

Here’s how the Puja Vidhi goes, on the first day day, take a bath in the morning and wear clean and clean clothes. Now take soil in a pot or the ground and make little high altar of soil and sow Barley in it. Then place Ganga water in the Kalash and place a statue of Kul Devi on it or a coconut wrapped in red cloth and worship it. At the time of worship, recite Durga Saptashati. Also, from this day on, akhand diyas also lit for nine days.
