Bong Joon-Ho’s directorial Parasite won many awards this year, and also bagged 4 Oscar Awards at the recently held ceremony. Parasite won the awards under the categories Best Screenplay, Best Foreign Film, Best Director and Best Picture. Apart from this, the film also bagged the Best motion picture-Foreign language award at Golden Globes Awards 2020, Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) for Cast in a Motion Picture award and also BAFTA awards for Film Not in the English Language award. Clearly, it was a huge hit this year.

Now, Parasite is being compared to the Tamil film Minsara Kanna. Twitterati thinks the Korean film is borrowed from Vijay’s 1999 film. Many people pointed out on social media that after watching Parasite, they realized that it had some striking similarities to Vijay's 1999 Tamil film Minsara Kanna. In Minsara Kanna, a wealthy man falls in love with a girl and his whole family pretends to be poor and works for the girls’ family to win over the girl. Meanwhile, Parasite is largely about a poor family and how they get a rich family to hire them. Meanwhile, Parasite bagged the Best Picture award at Oscars 2020, making history as the first non-English film to win this coveted award. Desi Girl Priyanka Chopra who didn’t attend the Oscars this year congratulated the team of Parasite and shared a long note along with it.
