Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement was speculated for quite a long time until he finally made an announcement on August 15, 2020. On the 74th Independence Day, MS Dhoni took to his social media handles to announce his retirement from international cricket. Along with Dhoni, cricketer Suresh Raina also announced his retirement. Now, after the former Indian cricket team skipper announced his retirement, MS Dhoni thanked PM Narendra Modi for the warm letter appreciating his contribution towards Indian cricket.

As MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on Independence Day, August 15, after a decorated 16-year career, honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a lengthy and emotional letter for the former Indian Cricket team skipper. In his two-page long letter, PM Modi appreciated MS Dhoni for his contribution towards Indian cricket and praised him for his achievements on the fields and everything he has done so far, for the sport in the country and across the world.

Reacting to the two-page long letter, Mahendra Singh Dhoni took to his Twitter handle to share pictures of the warm letter and expressed his feelings about the same. Dhoni responded by thanking the Prime Minister for his kind words. In his tweet, MS Dhoni mentioned how an Artist, Soldier and Sportsperson always craves for appreciation, something that their hard work and sacrifice gets noticed and appreciated by everyone. He then went on to thank PM Modi for his appreciation and good wishes.


Speaking of Dhoni’s achievements, the former Indian cricket team skipper has become India’s most successful captain who led the team to the World Cup triumphs in 2007 (T20) and 2011 (ODI). The team also became the top-ranked test team under him in 2009. The cricketer has also achieved lots more and has also received awards for his hard work.
