PM Narendra Modi Meets And Congratulates World Badminton Champion PV Sindhu; Calls Her India's Pride

PV Sindhu became the World Badminton Champion by beating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in the women's singles finals. Since then, congratulatory messages have been pouring in for her. Now, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi met her and congratulated her on the win.

Shuttler PV Sindhu is indeed the pride of India. She became the World Champion by winning gold in recently concluded BWF World Championships by beating Japan's ace badminton player Nazomi Okuhara. She created history and social media went abuzz congratulating her. From Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan to many politicians, everyone wished PV Sindhu on her glorious win. Now, the Champion is back home and received the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister, who is quite active on social media, took to Instagram to post a picture with the new World Champion. PV Sindhu can be seen wearing her gold medal while NaMo proudly holds it to flaunt. In the caption, NaMo called her India's Pride and congratulated her for her big victory. His caption reads, "India’s pride, a champion who has brought home a Gold and lots of glory! 🇮🇳🏸🥇 Happy to have met @pvsindhu1 . Congratulated her and wished her the very best for her future endeavours." 


It was on Tuesday that PV Sindhu came back to India and on arrival, she expressed that she wants to bring more such laurels home. She was quoted saying, "I wish I'll get many more medals for this country. I would like to thank all my fans. It is because of their blessings & love that I am here today." She was welcomed with garlands and a huge crowd gathered outside the airport to receive the World Champion. 


She sure will cherish these moments for a lifetime and we shall too!
