Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have announced the birth of their second child, and it’s a baby girl! According to a report in Associated Press News, the couple welcomed their daughter on Friday. A spokesperson confirmed this on Sunday, and revealed that the child is named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, and she weighed in at 7 lbs, 11 oz at birth. Their daughter has been named after the Royal family’s nickname for the Queen, the baby’s great- grandmother. Meanwhile, her middle name ‘Diana’ is in honor of her late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.
The announcement of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's daughter Lilibet wasn't accompanied by a picture. She is eighth in line to the throne. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot at Windsor Castle in May 2018. They welcomed their son Archie in 2019. An official statement shared on the Archewell Foundation website read, "Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also shared a message of thanks on the Archewell Foundation website. It read, "On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
