Sameer Wankhede reacts to the charges against him by the ED for accepting a bribe from Shah Rukh Khan in 2021 during Aryan Khan’s drug case

The former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede has been making the headlines ever since he arrested Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan for a ‘drugs on cruise’ case in 2021. More than two years, after the entire controversy, he is still in the news as he was embroiled in a bribery case of Rs 25 crores, which he won in 2023. Now he has found himself in yet another legal proceeding as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case of bribery against him. He has reacted to the same.
Wankhede reacted to the new money laundering case by the ED against him, under the same case of accepting a bribe from SRK. He is booked under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Reacting to the news, he expressed his shock and refused to comment on it. Quoted by the Bollywood Shaadis, he said, “ED had registered the said ECIR in 2023. It is surprising that this ECIR is based on the CBI FIR, which is already under question before the Bombay HC. Since the matter is subjudice, I don't intend to comment anything further. I will give the appropriate reply in the court at the appropriate time. I reiterate that I have full faith in the Indian Judiciary. For the unversed, it was in October 2021, that Sameer had conducted a raid on the Cordelia cruise from Mumbai to Goa, after getting information about a rave party. After his arrest, Aryan had remained in police custody for over 26 days. He was even sent to the Arthur Road Jail during that time. However, he was granted bail by the court due to a lack of solid evidence against him. A year after his arrest Aryan had received a clean chit in the case. On the work front, Aryan Khan’s upcoming show Stardom stars Lakshya Lalwani in the lead and revolves around the Hindi film industry. He has penned the script alongside Bard Of Blood fame writer Bilal Siddiqui and he will be directing the series. The show is produced by SRK and Gauri Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment.
