Serena Williams Comes Out In Support Of Her ‘Selfless Friend’ Meghan Markle; Tweets ‘I Want Daughters To Live In A Society That Is Driven By Respect’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey has made headlines since it was aired. During the interview, the couple levelled several allegations against the British Royal family. They also made shocking revelations never heard before by the public. After Meghan and Harry’s interview, Serena Williams took to her Twitter to speak in support of her ‘selfless friend’ Meghan. Serena extended her support to the Suits actress and send out a hardcore message for everyone. She also pointed out that she does not want daughters to live in a society that is not driven by respect.
On Twitter, Serena tweeted, “Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life- and leads by example- with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she’s experienced.” Sharing her personal experience, Williams added, “I know first hand the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of color to minimize us, to break us down and demonize us. We must recognize our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism. The mental health consequence of systemic oppression and victimization are devastating. Isolating and all too often lethal. Serena added, “I want Meghan’s daughter, my daughter and your daughter to live in a society that is driven by respect.”
Serena Williams concluded the note, by writing, “Keep in you memory the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Take a look at the tweet below:
